Espanyol faces Celta at the RCDE Stadium in Barcelona in a match from the last 38th round of La Liga. Let’s take a look at it in our soccer predictions for this week.

Espanyol are saying goodbye to one of the most terrible seasons in their history. The Catalans got relegated to Segunda after a shameful performance through the entire campaign. So far Espanyol managed to win just 24 points during the campaign and they have lost 23 of their 37 matches in the league.

It’s quite sad to see a well known club as Espanyol getting relegated, but the truth is Los Perricos just didn’t do enough to survive. They changed few managers during the season, but this didn’t help at all. Now they don’t have any other choice, but to regroup and do better in Segunda. The perfect scenario for them would be to get back in La Liga for the 2021/22 season.

In their last match Espanyol lost again, although it didn’t really surprised anyone. Los Perricos visited Valencia at the Mestalla and suffered a 0-1 defeat.

Celta are getting ready for a real final at the RCDE Stadium on Sunday. The club from Vigo is 17th in the league, just one point ahead of the 18th Leganes and the relegation zone. Oscar Garcia and his players are aware that a negative result on Sunday could send them to Segunda. That’s a huge motivation before this game.

In their last match Celta suffered their 15th defeat for the season. Oscar’s boys hosted Levante, but got outperformed and lost the match at the Balaidos. Santi Mina and Iago Aspas’ goals for Celta was not enough.

These are our soccer predictions for this week for La Liga fixture between Espanyol and Celta on Sunday. For the hosts this game does not really mean anything, but for Celta it’s a true final. Let’s see what’s going to happen in the heart of Catalunya.
